WORK EXPERIENCE

Mining Engineer (2021 – Current)

Standard Bauxite Inc. and Galata Gold Inc. were established in 2014 and 2020, respectively, as subsidiaries wholly owned by Verusa Holding, a publicly traded company in Turkey. These companies collectively hold a total of 45 mining licenses, encompassing metallic minerals such as bauxite, iron, copper, gold, silver, chrome, and antimony.

As a member and engineer of the team, my primary responsibilities include overseeing, executive the operations of mining sites and ensuring compliance with the Mining Act.

Furthermore, I conduct comprehensive feasibility studies with the goal of enhancing the value of existing mineral licenses. I manage these studies, share findings with the management, and oversee project implementations. I am also responsible for designing facilities for ore enrichment processes. To assess the efficiency of my projects, I collaborate with various universities and conduct ore enrichment experiments in their laboratories, calculating the efficiency of each stage. Additionally, I assist in procurement and team building for the factories and processes I design.

I am also tasked with creating 3D designs for open-pit and underground mining operations and ensuring the implementation of drilling and blasting designs. I use NetCAD, Leapfrog and Micromine programs for three-dimensional design. Throughout drilling and blasting process, I compare my approach with the methodologies of researchers such as Morhard, Oloffsson, Konya, and Bahandri to achieve the best results.

I manage drilling operations in accordance with JORC standards, and I am well-versed in JORC and CRIRSCO codes, ensuring that all drilling activities adhere to these regulations. It is also my responsibility to send the extracted ores to internationally accredited analysis laboratories and interpret the results of chemical analyses.

I actively participate in the trade of our metallic ores, acquiring new customers and overseeing shipments. I regularly visit customers who purchase raw ores and metal ingots, and I follow up on new orders.

Furthermore, I have significant responsibilities related to the company’s culture of Integrated Management Systems, including implementing, monitoring, and enforcing these systems in the field. Preparing and presenting status reports for senior management is another key part of my role. Additionally, I handle interactions with important government bodies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, and the Ministry of Climate Change.

Mining Engineer (2018 – 2021)

Merpa Metal and Merkur Maden were established in 1981 as wholly-owned subsidiaries of Mermerler Holding. The companies hold a total of 7 mining licenses, primarily for chrome and salt. As a member of the team, my responsibilities included conducting feasibility studies, establishing mineral processing plants, designing open-pit and underground mining operations, managing ore trades, developing work plans, maintaining customer relationships, and monitoring processes.

Earthquake Awareness Trainer (2011 – 2015)

During my tenure at The Turkish Earthquake Foundation, a prominent non-governmental organization in Turkey dedicated to advancing earthquake knowledge and preparedness, I was actively involved in various aspects of earthquake research, education, and awareness.

As part of my responsibilities, I conducted in-depth research on earthquake patterns, seismic activity, and risk assessment. This research aimed to provide up-to-date information on seismic events, enabling our organization to better prepare and respond to potential earthquake threats. I collaborated closely with academic and governmental institutions to gather and disseminate critical earthquake-related data.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role was engaging with the public and imparting essential knowledge about earthquakes. I actively participated in educational initiatives where we employed earthquake simulators to create realistic seismic experiences for individuals of all ages. Our primary focus was on the Marmara Earthquake, as it poses a significant threat to the region. Through hands-on training and simulations, we helped individuals understand the importance of earthquake preparedness and taught them how to respond effectively in the event of an earthquake.

Additionally, I had the privilege of embarking on a nationwide tour across Turkey, where we visited elementary schools to raise earthquake awareness among young students. These outreach programs played a crucial role in instilling a sense of responsibility and preparedness for future generations. We conducted interactive presentations, organized drills, and distributed educational materials to empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe during seismic events.

My experience at The Turkish Earthquake Foundation not only enriched my understanding of seismic science and risk mitigation but also reinforced my commitment to fostering a culture of earthquake preparedness. I was proud to have been part of an organization that strived to make Turkey more resilient to earthquake threats by actively engaging with various stakeholders and the general public.

SOME MAJOR PROJECTS

Development of a B2B Ore Trading Platform (04/03/2023 – Current)

In this project, I developed a B2B ore trading website, ore2b.com, based on PHP. The website allowed users to buy and sell various types of ores, including iron, copper, and aluminum. It included features such as user registration, product listings, messaging, and payment processing. Additionally, the website integrated real-time market price tracking from the London Metal Exchange and Asian Metal, enabling users to stay up-to-date on market trends and make informed decisions when buying and selling ores. This project demonstrates the potential for the use of technology to facilitate B2B trading and market analysis, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the ore trading industry.

Development of an Energy Prediction Model using Artificial Neural Networks (02/12/2022 – 05/02/2023)

In this project, I developed an energy prediction model using artificial neural networks (ANNs). The model was trained using historical energy consumption data, to predict future energy demand in a given area. The use of ANNs allowed for the model to adapt and improve its predictions over time, based on new data inputs. The project was successful in creating an accurate and reliable energy prediction model that could be used by energy companies to plan for future energy demand and reduce forecast errors. This project demonstrates the potential for the use of machine learning techniques in the energy industry, enabling more efficient and sustainable energy usage.

Feasibility Study for Bauxite Enrichment Plant Design and Alumina Production (28/05/2022 – 10/06/2022)

In this project, I conducted a feasibility study for the design of a bauxite enrichment plant, with the aim of producing high-quality alumina. The plant design included innovative techniques for maximizing efficiency such as the use of renewable energy sources and the recycling of waste materials. This project demonstrates the potential for sustainable bauxite enrichment and alumina production, using innovative design and production techniques to produce high-quality products with minimal environmental impact.

Development of an Indicator for Price Prediction using Inverse Fisher Transform and Technical Indicators (01/03/2020 – 01/04/2020)

In this project, I developed an indicator for price prediction using the Inverse Fisher Transform (IFT) and several technical indicators such as Stochastic, RSI, CCI, MFI and MACD. The IFT was used to transform the data and generate new features, allowing for more accurate predictions. The technical indicators were used to provide additional context and insights into market trends. The resulting indicator was successful in generating accurate price predictions and could be used by traders and investors to inform their trading decisions. This project demonstrates the potential for the use of advanced technical analysis techniques in the financial industry, enabling more informed and successful trading strategies.

Installation of a Chrome Ore Enrichment Plant and Sale of High-Grade Chrome Ore (27/07/2019 – 09/04/2021)

In this project, I design the installation of a chrome ore enrichment plant that used magnetic separation to extract high-grade chrome ore from low-grade ore. The plant was designed to operate with maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact. The project was successful in generating revenue and creating employment opportunities in the local community in Hatay. This project demonstrates the potential for sustainable chrome ore enrichment and sales, using innovative techniques to produce high-quality chromium with minimal environmental impact.

Salt Flake Production and Sales (22/06/2019 – 10/08/2021)

In this project, I established a small-scale salt flake production and sales business, using traditional methods to produce high-quality artisanal salt and marketing it to local and international customers. The production process involved evaporating seawater in shallow pans over a low fire, then harvesting and cleaning the resulting salt crystals. This project demonstrates the potential for small-scale salt flake production and sales using traditional methods and innovative marketing strategies.
